Rapper-producer Missy Elliott held a private event at Parlor in New York City on Monday night (March 4). The veteran introduced her new artist rapper-dancer Sharaya J and premiered her video for “Banji” (which you can view below). Producer Timbaland was also in attendance but looked like he was tired as hell! LOL!! Anyway, check out what Missy said about this rising star:

Misssy Elliott has always had this air of positivity about herself…she’s a real cool girl…and an icon too, when you think of it.
I thought the video was somewhat entertaining, and tha’s do in part to the dancing, don’t know if the overall presentation was of it looking low budget on purpose, but if so it was bearable to say the least. Not really feeling the song though.
It might have the potential of being a club banger. We will have to see.

Missy was one of the most talented women in Hip Hop. A pioneer in truth. I don`t care what her sexuality is personally but I would be willing to bet Missy is 100% a lesbian. This girl will not go anywhere because people are not stupid. Cassie is in the same boat. Missy and her girlfriend will play to a subversive or subgroup of women not mainstream America. Just telling it like it is.

Don’t know how I feel about the song but the video was interesting. It did look kind of low budget but I kept watching to see what was going to happen next.
I’ll continue to wait until I see something “refreshing and creative” because I’m not seeing it in this song or video.
