Over the weekend, footage from an interview with Terrence Howard floated around the webosphere. While promoting his latest film, Dead Man Down, the 44 year-old actor talked about his role in his new film and addressed on the negative responses from the black community regarding his decision to divorce his ex-wife and marry an Asian woman:
We have a crab mentality where we try to pull each other down because of the choices that we make. Because I chose to marry an Asian woman instead of a Black woman. I think as Black people we have to start helping each other and congratulating each other for being morally strong. And doing the right thing by that. And stop. If you dont have something nice to say, then don’t say anything at all.
Terrence’s latest film, Dead Man Down is in movie theaters now. In the meantime, what do you think about Terrence’s statement?

WTF? I’ve never heard nor read any negativity regarding whom Terrance chooses to marry. Furthermore, he made some crazy ass comments a few years back about wanting to see a reflection of himself in his “wife” and some more chit about Baby Wipes, and at that point I think he lost the interest of black women in general.
So pls tell Mr. Howard to have a stadium full of seats and focus on acting before he loses us there TOO. Now I see why he fell out with Jamie Foxx lol.

Lol @ “a stadium full of seats”. I agree though. I have never heard of anyone having an issue with him or his choice in a spouse. *shrugs*
Maybe not on this blog, but on predominately black women blogs they did.
THANK YOU! He can have several seats cuz no one even knew he was getting divorced or married again & I’m pretty sure no one cares who he gets married to as long as he is happy who cares what any one thinks especially people who don’t know him personally….he is thinking to highly of himself. NEXT!
Nobody is paying attention to this clown I guess “it’s hard out here for pimp”! lmao
I’m sure that he has been receiving a lot of harassment from black females, but at the same time, people have the right to their opinion. Black females live in vicarious relationships with black male celebrities that they find attractive, so he should expect them to lash out when he chooses to marry a “non-black” woman. He is a public figure. To whom much is given, much is required. Furthermore, a “crab mentality” has nothing to do with people telling you what you want to hear.
Let’s be real. Were black women really checkin’ for Mr. Howard in the first place, lol? I for one, knew nothing about who he divorced and decided to marry. But I understand Mr. Howard. It’s so easy to blame the “black community” for their lack of interest in you because you decided to marry someone outside your race. It had nothing to do with your self-entitled attitude and the ridiculous amount of money you demanded to play a supporting role in Iron Man 2, which ended up going to Don Cheadle. But yeah, it’s all because you married an Asian woman.
Yes, that was a bad career move on his part lol, turning down that comic book franchise. I’m sure that they short-changed him compared to market value, but since he is already in that world, he should’ve just signed up for the last two. He could’ve parlayed it into something more lucrative.
HERE, HERE. That mistake could have found him “black listed” in hollyweird (wood). Like Isaiah Washington…
Howard has fallen into what most people in Hollywood fall into….narcissism.
Howard was dumped from Iron Man when he felt his value was higher than it really was.
I would suggest Howard worry about reviving his broken career over comment people may make about him….if the high point of your performance is “making love to Oprah”…you might want to re-think your career choices. And the not infamous “baby wipe” comments came from YOU Howard not Black women. Dude…grow up. nobody cares who you married.
His ‘making love to Oprah’ comment was supposed to be an olive branch to black women. I think he needs to fire his manager and publicist and reevaluate his attitude. At his age, there aren’t that many opportunities.
Terrance is great at his craft but has always been how should I say well “special” and ” passionate.”
I didn’t like him ever since those weird baby wipe comments and his diva behavior about Iron Man. Compound that with his Lester-the-Molester looks and he is no longer that appealing. Didn’t know he was married to an Asian though, although I did hear about his last relationship drama (the lady was using the n-word and stuff?). He gets a side eye from me lol.
I didn’t know he was married to an Asian woman. I did know he wants his women to wipe their bits with wet wipes. If not you got a nasty booty. He kind of crazy.
LOL
Ok, can someone elaborate on the “baby wipes” comment I never heard about that. Also, Terrance Howard is good at putting his paws on women, so what black women want’s that. I know it happens in all races. But He isn’t worth the headache, IMO.. That NI –A would have a knot on his head big as a goose egg, he try that ish with me.
A few years ago he gave an interview where he stated that women who only use toilet tissue to wipe their behinds after defacating are nasty and unclean. He claimed that we need to use Wet Wipes to completely clean ourselves. He went on to say that when he’s dating a woman and he doesn’t see Wet Wipes in her bathroom, he knows she’s nasty and won’t continue the relationship. Lol! Smh. A crass statement, but it has its merits. Lol! Till this day when I buy Wet Wipes I think of Terrence.
LMAO! girl you need to quit!
thanks for sharing. much obliged
If anything, “we” have a problem with making “we” statements. Rolling my eyes. Terrence, ain’t nobody checking for you. Furthermore, the “crab mentality” comment is not only worn-out and lame, but it’s also not applicable to this situation. Terrance, we rather you just be a man about it and say you are not attracted to black women. Keep in mind that because you are a public figure, you may be criticized for your actions on and off camera. It comes with the territory. In closing, please watch how you critique the the people who are your main supporters (why, I don’t know), mmkay?
Signed,
“Crab in the Bucket” -_-
During Hurricane Katrina, Terrence made some horrible, heartless comments about the suffering of those people. Never liked him since.
I thought he said the Asian woman called him a n@gger. Wait..I think it was a white woman.
Gee, I feel you on that…Terrance need to consider the fact that these non-black women will always have that “superiority” air about them, I don’t care who they’re with…and YES this woman called him n@gger…and more than likely, she’s not the only non-black woman to refer to him as such…they take the dick, yet all they will ever seeand be with is a n@gger…I pray for black men like Terrence, Taye, TO (God help_TO)…Wake up and realize that these non-black women running game, and WE as black women see right through it…, some black men fall for it because it’s something about their black skin that they don’t like…tryin’ to fit into the white man’s world by dating white women, yet you’ll never be seen as EQUAL to her white father…that’s just SAD@!
I agree… No one is really checking for him anymore. The last time I enjoyed him in a role was when he played Q in The Best Man.
Me too. Only notable role he’s played. No wonder he hasn’t reached Denzel/Jamie Fox/ Forest Whitaker status.
Nothing worse than a person who has forgotten where they came from.
Another damaged little boy who wants to blame everyone else for his mistakes. Terrence, TMZ went in terribly on you…will you insult the white media , too? Never that. People like you only attack those who you feel don’t have a protector. You alienated yourself from the Black community in general with your own lack of respect for it. You hate being Black and don’t consider yourself a Black person, unless of course, you have a terrible movie coming out. Get thee behind me, Satan lol.
This man is truly stuck on himself. People do not care who you married, last I heard she was taking you for everything you have, and was racist toward you.
One Direction for Life is a something we’d love you to endorse, we have a really good cause – and we have a similar fan base! One Direction for Life http://www.onedirectionforlife.com
LOL @ at this self-hating Kneegrow. You divorced a white woman to marry an Asian woman and Black women are supposed to be mad? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. You need to lower that high opinion of yourself. Nobody is checking for you and your baby penis.
I don’t have a problem with whom you marry, just stop blaming black women for the reason you don’t. These men should remember some of the movies they make are seen predominatley by black people. If you keep saying things about the black women they might stop paying to see your movies, Case in point ask Wesly Snipes about his comments about black women that he made in Ebony magazine back in the 90′s
