New Orleans-native PJ Morton drops a feel good joint for the music lovers called “Only One,” the lead single from his upcoming studio album, New Orleans. The Young Money artist takes us to a wedding reception in the official visuals for his Stevie Wonder-featured track earlier this week.
In his “Behind-the-Song” video, the 32 year-old singer-songwriter shared how getting Stevie to play on his track was an easy feat but at the same time was a dream come true when it happened:
I didn’t really think it was possible, even though I wanted it to happen. I just tried everyone I knew who was closed to him. I asked a friend and that friend linked me up with someone who worked with Stevie. At this point at his career, Stevie doesn’t have to do any strategic career moves. It’s has to be internal for him to do something, so I knew I had to go on the inside. And I was able to do it. Yeah, it’s my dream come true. I still don’t believe it.
Although, his video doesn’t feature Mr. Wonder in the flesh, Stevie’s presence can definitely be felt in the music. Peep the Jeffrey Elmont-directed clip up top and also check out PJ’s other video down below where he talks more about making his dream a reality.
PJ Morton’s upcoming major-label debut studio album, New Orleans drops later this Spring (May 14th) via Young Money.
