“Politicians never did s**t for me / except lie to me, distort history.”
Jay-Z got a visit from the muses, late last night (April 10), and was inspired to release his discontent over head-bobbing, sinister instrumentation, having recruited both Swizz Beats and Timbaland for production.
Mr. Carter premiered “Open Letter” on his Life+Times Soundcloud and Hot 97′s Morning Show, circa 7:45 AM today. Jay-Z touched on the pressures of his respective field, his and Beyonce’s government-approved trip to Cuba, and buying/selling his stake in the Brooklyn Nets.
“Obama said ‘You gonna get me impeached” / “I can turn Havana to Atlanta” / “Woulda brought ‘em to Brooklyn for free, ‘cept I made a million off you f*ckin’ dweebs.”
We get it: “boy from the hood who got White House clearance.” At this point, the rap idol is untouchable and can spew pretty much whatever he wants and –– to a certain degree –– rightfully so. But Jay, is the world really under new management?
Is Mr. Carter’s new tune a banger or mere frolic? Take a listen above.
