On Patriot’s Day, a day that celebrates the free and independent spirit that Boston has reflected from the primal days of our nation, Bostonians were gathered in a friendly function of competition, only to suffer a pair of catastrophic bombings toward the finish line of a marathon. Left destitute at the hands of cruelty, the resilient people of Massachusetts were forced to summon the countless number of people who were injured, including –– thus far –– three that have been pronounced dead.
On April 15, 2013, a few hours after the marathon explosions occurred, President Obama approached the podium and made a statement from the briefing room about the unfortunate and senseless act, reassuring the American people that:
Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups will feel the full weight of justice.
As of Tuesday morning (April 16), local, state and federal authorities are investigating. Being interrogated is a single “person of interest,” –– a 20-year old Saudi national wounded in the attack, who’s not been named a suspect.
Reportedly, no one has claimed responsibility for what authorities have labeled a “terrorist” attack. More than 145 people were injured, and three people (including an 8-year-old boy) were killed. Still in the investigation stage, President Obama advises the American people not to jump to conclusions before we have all the facts.
We will find out who did this and we will hold them accountable.
