Back in 2002, Nasir Jones graced the cover of Mass Appeal magazine; 11 years later, he returns to breathe new life into the culturally-inclined publication, only this time –– as an owner.
The Queens representer tells FORBES that he’s imbued a hefty investment of “six-figures” into the mag, which –– post a five-year suspension –– re-surfaced as a quarterly print earlier this year.
Mass Appeal has a legacy and respect… It already has a foundation … I just feel like I can add on because I can lend my kind of cultural expertise and my professional acumen, and develop the business.
As Nas revs up to serve as Associate Publisher of Mass Appeal, he credits b-ball idol Magic Johnson to be one of his muses to inspire the expansion his resumé. Like the former Lakers star, who now holds a small stake in the Los Angeles Dodgers, Nas is joining forces with better established investors.
Nasty Nas can now be added to the esteemed catalogue of entrepreneurial Hip-hop moguls. It was only a matter of time.
