Just when you thought you could take a breather from tax evasion news, we have found one more celebrity to add to the list. Mary J. Blige has been hit with a hefty bill to the tune of $3.4 million.
The IRS filed a federal tax lien against the Grammy winner, claiming she failed to pay all her income taxes for the years 2009 ($574,907.30), 2010 ($2,203,743.53) and 2011 ($647,604.60).
If you thought the $3.4 million was a lot, you would be right, but of course, this is not where the story ends. In addition to the IRS on her tail, the state of New Jersey is also asking MJB to pay up $901,769.65 in back taxes. She is also being sued $2.2 million for a defaulted bank loan, and her charity is facing legal action for never paying back a $250 K bank loan.
If you add up all these factors, it looks like Blige could be paying out over $6.5 million for her or her team’s irresponsible tax and banking practices. Maybe it would be a good time to re-up on that Burger King contract boo. “Crispy chicken!”
