The beef was hashed shortly after Hot 97 DJ and morning-show host Peter Rosenberg spoke unfavorably of Nicki Minaj’s popular, infectious “Starships” single. The Hip-hop biggie hosted the opening stage in the parking lot of MetLife Stadium, where last year’s Summer Jam concert took place, during which he unapologetically aired his discontent with Nicki’s latest buzzing track.
The ill commentary left such a sour taste in Lil Wayne’s mouth that he went as far as to order all of YMCMB artists not to take stage including DJ Khaled, Busta Rhymes and, of course, Nicki Minaj.
On Monday morning, Hot 97 aired the exclusive interview as Nicki sat face-to-face with Rosenberg for the first time since. Minaj candidly expressed to Rosenberg that she was principally unaware of the DJ’s curriculum vitae.
I never found you funny. I never found you entertaining. I never found you smart. I just found you annoying. To me you don’t have enough of a résumé to make those comments.
By the end of the half-an-hour conversation, Rosenberg and the Barbz called it truce and the dialogue turned a few corners, touching bases with “American Idol,” her new movie with Cameron Diaz, “The Other Woman” and her impending third studio project. Minaj declares that she will return to her roots in her next album, focusing more on rap and less on pop.
Has the door been left open for a Nicki performance during Summer Jam 2013 this Sunday? Only time will tell. Peep the full interview up top.
