After 10 years and 20 successful cycles, Tyra Banks is adding South Africa as one more international adaptation on her Top Model franchise list.
According to CBSCorporation.com, America’s Next Top Model distributor and CBS Television’s subdivision, CBS Studios International has just authorized the rights over to LuLu Productions for an African adaptation of the popular modeling competion entitled Africa’s Next Top Model:
LuLu Productions will be producing Africa’s Next Top Model along with Never Machine Productions for it to air pan-regionally throughout Africa this year. Production will get under way in August in Cape Town. The show, which will be filmed in English, will be shot primarily on location in South Africa, supported by the sponsorship from South African Tourism.
Like the US version, twelve (12) ladies will be chosen from eight countries throughout the Motherland, and compete in photo shoots and challenges to stake their claim as Africa’s Top Model. Although the judges haven’t been announced, filming wil start in August in Cape Town, South Africa. Nigerian supermodel Oluchi Orlandi will also serve as executive producer and host of the 10-episode series.
Africa’s Next Top Model will air pan-regionally throughout Africa in 2013 on MNET Africa Magic channels.
