MEET QUADRON. Consisting of singer Coco O. and producer Robin Hannibal, this Danish duo by way of Los Angeles is a musical force to be reckoned with. The pair first collaborated a number of years ago in Danish electronic soul collective Boom Clap Bachelors, and in time, decided to pursue the musical marriage that is Quadron. Coco O. recently provided vocals to the track “TreeHome95″ from Tyler the Creator’s “Wolf” album, along with “Where The Wind Blows” on “The Great Gatsby” soundtrack. Along with Quadron, Robin Hannibal is also half of indie-soul duo Rhye.
“Quadron” is the Danish word for quarter. Choosing this word as a band name was fitting as it honors the pair’s cultural heritage and sound. Coco O. has an African grandfather and Robin Hannibal has an African-American grandfather, making them both a quarter Black. Their sound infuses various elements of soul, R&B, hip-hop, and down-tempo electronic music, creating a new genre that is dubbed “future soul”.
“HEY LOVE” MUSIC VIDEO
With the success of “Hey Love”, the first single off their sophomore effort and major label debut, “Avalanche”, the pair have a new musical offering for the masses entitled “Better Off”. The tune encompasses the essence of 1970′s soul music, and features an appearance from none other than Kendrick Lamar. The collaboration between Quadron and Kendrick was built over time; the main production used in his hit “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” contained large elements of Boom Clap Bachelors track “Tiden Flyver”.
Quadron’s sophomore album and major-label debut “Avalanche”, will be released June 4, 2013 on Vested in Culture/Epic Records. Their self-titled debut album, “Quadron”, is available now.
