Pharrell took his talents to Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday night (June 26) for a special performance of his single “Happy”, off the “Despicable Me 2″ soundtrack. He was joined on stage by a live band and group of about a dozen back-up singers and dancers to perform his 1960′s inspired tune. Pharrell dressed the part in a teal with black satin trim tuxedo jacket and bowtie, slim black pants, and black oxford shoes.
“Despicable Me 2″ hits theaters July 3rd.
In legal news, it seems that Will.i.am has a bone to pick with Pharrell. It has been reported on Wednesday, June 26 by Rolling Stone that Will.i.am has taken legal action against Pharrell and his “i am OTHER” brand, stating that the name and logo are “confusingly similar” to his own “I Am” brand.
I am disappointed that Will, a fellow artist, would file a case against me,” Pharrell says in a statement to RS. “I am someone who likes to talk things out and, in fact, I attempted to do just that on many occasions. I am surprised in how this is being handled and I am confident that Will’s trademark claims will ultimately be found to be as meritless and ridiculous as I do. [READ MORE]
Since the report, Will.i.am has taken to Twitter to shut down all such claims.
