While M.I.A’s word play may seem like simple lyrics, often times they actually reference to a lot of the political oppression in the middle east, and “Bring the Noize” is no different. Complete with religious emblems, Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam boisterously returns to the scene to deliver us one wicked rave in a mosque-like sanctuary.
Equipped with a pink wig and chunky gem-studded nails, the “Paper Planes” pop femcee comes back around to turn things up a notch.
The single is set to live on her forthcoming LP, Matangi, which is due later this fall. Until then, M.I.A holds us off with touring, as she makes her first appearance in Montreal, QC Metropolis on July 17, and tops off at the Pitchfork Music Festival on July 21 in Chicago, Illinois.
