It is proving to be a hot summer for Kerry Washington! She covers the August 2013 issue of ‘Vanity Fair’ in a white cut-out swimsuit, shot by Norman Jean Roy. In her cover story by contributing editor David Kamp, the Scandal star discusses how her character on the show, Olivia Pope, connects with many women worldwide.
On her character crossing racial bounds:
One of the most profound things for me about the show is the number of white women of all ages who come up to me and say, ‘I want to be Olivia Pope.’
On the femininity of Olivia Pope:
What I think is cool about Olivia is that she fully owns being a woman. There’s a very nurturing sense of ‘I’m going to take care of you—don’t worry about it. I’m gonna be your mom in this situation.
The August 2013 of ‘Vanity Fair’ hits newsstands July 9th.
