After all these years, it seems like actress Rae Dawn Chong still recounts bad blood between herself and Oprah…from 1985.
If you’re wondering who she is, Rae starred alongside Oprah back in ’85 in The Color Purple; she played Squeak, Harpo’s new lover, turned wife.
Anyway, Rae made a recent appearance on Matty P’s Radio Happy Hour, and unloaded every bit of displeasure she’s had with Oprah over the years, beginning with Oprah’s physical appearance:
I think she’s like a 4. [...] If you look at the way she looks, she looks like 60 years ago she would have been a house keeper luckily. She would not have been a house n**ger. She would have been a field n**ger.
Aside from calling Oprah “fat” and a “great brown-noser” when it came to networking and creating opportunities for herself, Chong went on to share another reason why she doesn’t like Oprah – Rae was snubbed on a talk-show appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show:
[Oprah] invited me to come do her show when I started Commando, and she just wasn’t having me. She’s competitive, she didn’t like me, and she was just not having me. They put me in a really sh*tty hotel and my son got sick; it was just a nightmare. And I ended up being backstage and they never called me onstage, and it was like, ‘You know what, f*ck you b*tch’.
Hours after TMZ released full audio clips of the interview, Rae released this response video, saying she meant every word she said. As far as using the n-word, she said it was actually a compliment, but she regrets using the word insensitively (in reference to the Zimmerman trial).
Compliment? Lawd, this sounds like another Lark Voorhies type of situation. She’s making not one ounce of sense. SMH!
