Eclectic R&B artist Ro James treated his NYC fans to a special in-store performance at the SoHo Apple store on Wednesday, August 22nd. He performed as part of the store’s ‘Meet the Musician’ series for artists on the rise, which features an interview portion and performance bit. The interview was moderated by K. Foxx (formerly of Hot 97 and VH1′s The Gossip Game), followed by Ro’s live performance with a full band.
He cited his father as his largest musical influence, whom is a pastor and wonderful singer. Genre-wise, he stated that he has been influenced by R&B, rock, and country, and uses these stylings in the music he creates today. He performed various selections from his Coke and Jack EPs, including “A.D.I.D.A.S”, “Pledge Allegiance”, “Devil’s Kiss”, and “Lisa”. He was joined by fellow singer Wynter Gordon for “Indiana Jones”, in which she sings on the hook.
The energy in the room was splendid, filled with family and friends of Ro, along with fellow musicians including Luke James, Bridget Kelly, and Ryan Leslie, to name a few.
