A hoax or scheme?
Raz B has been away from the lime light since the heydays of B2K, so when reports of his gruesome injury in a nightclub brawl near Shanghai hit the viral universe, all eyes were on De’Mario Thornton.
When Toy Jones, the source acting as the crooner’s publicist, disclosed Raz B’s sudden slip into a coma, a slew of celebrity news websites took to their laptops and reported on the unforeseen devastation. Relentless broadcasting of Raz B’s state of unconsciousness led the public to believe that somewhere, something went completely wrong, having caused such a drastic transition.
But it was all a bluff. Raz B’s manager, Elayne Rivers, confirms to CNN that although the singer was hurt, his injuries were not all that grave.
The comments about Raz being in a coma did not come from his official representative.
The singer’s brother, under the pseudonym of Ricky Romance, also released a statement, admitting to have fallen victim to the lie, explaining:
Since the source that gave me this information was what I thought to be legitimately reliable I didn’t question I just believed. I apologize if I seem like I jumped to conclusions, but a coma is a serious situation and it was concerning my brother whom is my best friend as well. I sincerely apologize for the confusion I caused if that is the case.
