The story of the “Godfather of Soul” seems to be making its way to the silver screen pretty soon.
Reports say that Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have greenlit the untitled biopic, which will have 42 star, Chadwick Boseman playing the lead role of the late James Brown.
The film will chronicle Brown’s road to fame as one of the world’s most highly influential R&B musicians.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project has been in the works since 2001. Since then, both Eddie Murphy and Wesley Snipes have been considered and eyed to portray the Godfather of Soul.
Although it was initially rumored that film icon Spike Lee would be involved, Tate Taylor (The Help, Pretty Ugly People) has been enlisted as the director.
