It is a very happy time for Lee Daniels and the cast of The Butler!
The film opened on Friday, August 16th and claimed the top spot at the box office over the weekend, raking in $27 million. The star-studded historical civil rights movie beat out the number 2 movie, We’re The Millers, starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis, which pulled in $17.7 million in its second week.
The Butler was at an advantage as it is one of the most critically-acclaimed films of the summer, featuring an ensemble cast including Oprah, Forrest Whitaker, Terrence Howard, Liev Schriber, and Robin Williams.
Congratulations to Lee Daniels and the entire cast!
