It’s no secret –– André 3000 has been working on the expansion of his acting portfolio, as he readys to live out the leading role of Jimi Hendrix in the upcoming biopic, All By My Side. What we didn’t know, was when the Atlanta rapper would finally gift the world with a musical body of work.
Having teased his fans with feature offerings and rumors of an Outkast reunion, a clandestine Three Stacks is simultaneously working on his solo studio project, according to BET’s president of music programing, Stephen Hill.
After conversing with the former Gillette spokesperson backstage at the America’s Most Wanted show in DC, Stephen tweeted:
Me: hey what’s up? You got the movie coming, right? Andre 3000: yeah… and I got a solo album coming top of the year. Me:*droptofloor*
Will we really see an André 3000 solo LP in 2014? It’s only a matter of time…
In the meantime, the Hendrix biopic All is By My Side will be making its global debut at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September 2013.
**UPDATE: A rep for Mr. 3000 has issued a statement to Billboard magazine clarifying Hill’s tweet: “Regarding reports of a specific plan to release an album in early 2014. There is no official confirmation on that report.”
Umm, that still doesn’t make sense, but at the same time, the release of his album is not being denied either. Welp, let’s wait and see…
