We’ve seen protests breakout across the nation following George Zimmerman acquittal, this time around the demonstration comes in a form of dance.
The dance group, Dancing for Action (DFA, formed in the wake of the Zimmerman verdict), held somewhat of a flash mob outside Senator Chuck Schumer’s office in New York City this past Wednesday (Aug 14).
DFA, upset over the Zimmerman’s not-guilty verdict for killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, came together to demand an end to the “Stand Your Ground” laws.
We were really upset at the outcome and so were a lot of our friends. We wanted to do something in action towards the solution of getting rid of the ‘Stand Your Ground’ law
The dancers swayed rhythmically over a set of drums, not dressed in hoodies but in red tops and dark bottoms in front of the Midtown office. Check out the video up top of the street performance and let us know what you think.
