With the recent release of his third studio album Nothing Was The Same and hinting that he will be taking a foray back into acting, it’s safe to say that Drake is having a pretty good year, right? That would be safe to say, but the Toronto-born rapper/singer is about to put on for his city in a huge way.
It was announced today by MSLE, the company that owns and operates several Toronto-based sports team, that Toronto will host the 2016 NBA All-Star Game, and to prepare for this, they have enlisted none other than Drake to serve as the Toronto Raptors’ global ambassador.
In his role as global ambassador, Drake will be consulting with the team for a complete rebranding, leading up to the franchise’s 20th anniversary in the 2014-1015 season. This includes spearheading a clothing line for the team, rebranding the team’s current image (logos, etc), and serving as a host to all Raptors related activities.
His role in helping reposition the Toronto Raptors brand is sparking comparison to Jay Z’s efforts with the Brooklyn Nets. He has big shoes to fill, but with Toronto always on his back, he is definitely the right man for the job. Congrats to Drake!
