Get Schooled partnered up with the Taco Bell Foundation for Teens and Viacommunity to commemorate the outstanding accomplishments of Bethel Regional High School.
Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar and NBA all-star James Harden were accompanied by Sway and others who all took to Bethel, Alaska to deliver messages of hope and congratulations to the eclectic student body.
The students of Bethel were chosen to receive the star-studded visit after they won an academic competition for their proven commitment to graduating high school.
Circa 2008, Bethel was labeled a dropout institution, but has since improved its retention, seeing off 83 percent of its graduating seniors to college this year.
Kendrick Lamar and James Harden, who both attended high school in the cities of Compton and Lakewood, California, were able to relate to the students who have struggled to graduate high school in order to make it to college for a chance at a brighter future.
Check out the team’s arrival and the energy the students provided in the video up top.
