Musician and entrepreneur Ryan Leslie has been blessing us with his musical talents for years now, whether it be behind-the-scenes or in the spotlight. He has built his career on strong principles of education and service, whilst being a positive role-model to youths pursuing music.
In part one of our two-part interview with the man behind the music, we got a raw take on Ryan’s life right now, his evolved sound, touring, and why he finds it necessary to be so readily available to his fans via social media.
On having his legal issues play out in the public:
I wanted to exemplify resilience. I wanted to exemplify the spirit of a champion. And that means, when you walk out of a situation in which you face defeat, it’s not about how you go back to your cave and lick your wounds. It’s about how you get back out on the hunt.
On his purpose:
I’m interested in empowering people to rise up against adversity, and continue to do what they love to do.
