In the calm before the Yeezus tour, Kanye West sat down with BBC Radio 1′s Zane Lowe for an extensive interview. In part one of the four-part series, Kanye is his usual candid self, really digging into the evolution of his music and sound in fourteen minutes of uncensored conversation.
On challenging himself musically:
I’m not trying to regurgitate myself. I showed people that I understand how to make perfect. ‘Dark Fantasy’ can be considered to be perfect. ‘I know how to make perfect’, but that’s not what I’m here to do.
On his design being denied by a major fashion house:
Brought the leather jogging pant six years ago to Fendi, and they said ‘No’. How many motherf**kers you done seen with a leather jogging pant?
