The Nike Foundation in collaboration with the NoVo Foundation, United Nations Foundation and Coalition for Adolescent Girls, have created the Girl Effect, an initiative that recognizes the potential in over 250 million adolescent girls living in poverty, and what they can do to end it.
The “Girl Declaration” has been written to ensure that adolescent girls are included in the Post-2015 development agenda, with the aim to eliminate poverty. You can read the declaration in full over at GirlEffect.org. Currently, the declaration is supported by world leaders in the likes of Pakistani girl activist Malala Yousafzai, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Queen Rania of Jordan, Barbara Bush, United Nations Foundation CEO Kathy Calvin, CARE CEO Helene Gayle, and corporations like Microsoft and the Intel Foundation.
