Mack Wilds has quietly transitioned from acting into music, adopting a new name, and introducing a new persona that we have not yet seen. With the release of his debut single “Own It”, Mack opened up our ears to a fresh sound, with ton of New York flavor. His debut album, New York: A Love Story, is the first release on legendary producer Salaam Remi’s label, Re Mi Fa/Louder Than Life records, out now through Sony.
We sat down for an exclusive with the rising star, and chatted about his new music career, his inspirations, his love life, and more.
On how long he has been singing and songwriting:
The majority of my life, seriously. I’ve been doing music longer than I’ve been acting. I started writing songs and rhymes when I was about eleven-years old.
On what growing up in NYC taught him:
It taught me to be creative, and that there is a lot out there, and you have to go out and get it. And that the city doesn’t sleep, and it doesn’t stop for no one. So you really have to jump in, or get washed out.
On whether he will go back into acting:
Absolutely. I feel like it’s another form of creativity. I can’t give up on that.
