For an actor to successfully fulfill the role in any given movie, one must think he/she would have lived through what their character experiences — this, however, would not be true for Jennifer Hudson.
While visiting the set of E!’s Chelsea Lately Thursday night (October 10th), the singer/actress would reveal how she prepared for her role as a heroin addict in the new drama film, The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete and her lack of experience with drugs or alcohol:
Normally as an actor, you have things to pull from. I’ve never done anything, so that was hard to play this role. I’ve never had a drink in my life. I’m sober [...] I’ve never been interested. Nobody ever believes it…When I got this role, I was like, ‘Oh my god, what am I gonna do? What am I gonna pull from to play the role?
