Looks like Drake will be enjoying success at the top of the charts this week.
With his third studio album, Nothing Was the Same debuting at #1 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart, Drizzy sold over 658,000 copies within the first seven day, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Although the album leaked rather early, it seems as though the online surfacing of the tracks didn’t put too much of a dent in fans rushing out to get the album.
As Drake enjoys his success with his new album, which has topped all of his other albums’ first week sales, he is getting prepared for an upcoming 39-city tour, Would You Like A Tour? with assistance from Miguel and Future. Check out the teaser video for the tour on the right!
CHRIS BROWN EYES “X” RELEASE DATE
Originally slated for a July release, Chris Brown finally took to his Twitter the other day to reveal the release date for his upcoming sixth studio album, X. The LP, led by the single “Fine China,” and followed up by the Aaliayah-assisted record, “Don’t Think They Know,” is slated to hit stores and online and everywhere on Tuesday, November 19th.
When asked about the LP in a sit-down interview with Billboard magazine, Brown had this to say about the upcoming album:
I wanted to touch musically on Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Sam Cooke and incorporate those influences with the new.
Brown also tweeted something that also alluded to his retiring from music, stating:
Don’t worry, mainstream America. After this ‘X’ album, it’ll probably be my last album.
Although Chris seems troubled, he is a talented guy. Let’s hope that all the tabloid antics and legal trouble do not stop him from creating music and performing. It’d be great to see him just focus on that and not let the other things discourage him from being an artist. In the meantime, be on the look-out for Chris’s album next month!
