Justin Timberlake scores his second #1 album this year with the second installment of his The 20/20 Experience series. It was already predicted that he would knock Drake out of the top spot last week with the follow-up to his March release.
The new album, appropriately titled 2 of 2 has sold 350,000 sold in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, while it’s first installment sold 968,000 units in the first week, earning the best sales week of 2013.
Drake dropped to the #2 spot with Nothing Was the Same, selling 148,000 the second week around. Also to debut this week is Nelly with his new album, N.O., entering the chart at #14 and selling only 15,000 copies, marking the lowest debut of his career. Pretty sure he’s not concerned though, pulling in those Cheerio endorsement dollars!
LAURYN HILL PENS OPEN LETTER
Days after her release from prison, Lauryn Hill dropped some new music in the form of a song called “Consumerism,” she also took to her blog on Tumblr to pen an open letter to fans and supporters for sending her packages, letters and books while on her stint in prison for tax evasion.
Know that many of your letters not only touched me, but continued to confirm for me what I already knew but needed to hear again: that sincere expression has a serious purpose. If one of you had been touched, picked up, encouraged, or prevented from succumbing from some measure of social or spiritual decline, then it was worth it.
In addition to the letter, Hill includes a vast list of special supports, whom she calls out by name in the blog. TMZ reports she wants to go on tour from as the year comes to an end. A judge has reportedly granted her request, but she must approve the itinerary with her probation officer. Check out the full letter below.
