Steve McQueen, director of the motion film 12 Years A Slave, is making his transition into television.
According to Deadline, the British director has teamed up with producer Matthew Michael Carnahan and hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons for a new HBO drama project.
Producers of the historical, British drama film,The King’s Speech, Iain Canning and Emile Sherman will also join as executive producers.
The untitled project, co-written by McQueen and Carnahan, will chronicle the life of a young African-American man’s experiences in New York high society with a surprising past of his own.
The drama series is exploring a potential shoot and casting choices before McQueen next movie. Further developments are currently unknown.
