MEET KELELA. Born Kelela Mizanekristos to Ethiopian immigrant parents in Maryland, the now Los Angeles-based singer has a story to be told through her music.
She has been honing her sound for some time now, really coming into prominence within the last year for her feature on Fade To Mind producer Kingdom’s hit “Bank Head.” Her floating vocals perfectly complemented the atmospheric track, and because of such, Kelela’s demand has grown quickly.
Taken under the wing of Solange, opening for her Bowery Ballroom show last December, and now one of the featured artists on Solo’s Saint Heron compilation, it is without a doubt that Kelela is on her way to be a household name.
Her debut mixtape, Cut 4 Me is available now, and features thirteen tracks of sugary vocals with gripping lyrics, over bass-thumping production.
