Ro James is set to open our ears to his unique offering of R&B. The military brat by way of Indiana has crafted a sound all his own in a short time span, blending genres to create a sound that is all Ro. Now that his three-part EP offering, “Coke, Jack, & Cadillacs” is out for public consumption, we chatted with Ro on his musical inspirations, his musician friends, family, and personal style.
On how he feels about categorizing his music:
All of these different genres effect me musically [country, Gospel, R&B, rock, Hip-Hop], so to put myself into a category or genre is cheating myself from all the things that I could do. But I guess the base and foundation is R&B.
On how fatherhood has helped him career-wise:
Fatherhood for me has helped mold my music only because it has helped me to be more focused.
On why he wears a gold tooth:
My family is Panamanian, so a lot of my family has a gold tooth. My dad actually has a gold tooth but in the front (right here). Those things make up my personal style.
