“Put some colored girls in the MoMA…” or in the case of Givenchy’s Spring 2014 Collection –– put them on the runway. Introducing the French brand’s new face, along with more women of color, Ms. Erykah Badu.
Riccardo Tisci, creative director of the famed fashion house, spoke with Style.com who, in turn, revealed the first look at Givenchy’s newest campaign.
Tisci said of Badu:
She’s an icon –– come on. She’s one of the most stylish women I’ve met in my life. She’s got such a good sense of proportion, of colors.
He later expounded on the motif behind his campaigns:
What I want to do with my advertising campaign is spread the love. Already now it’s been three seasons that I’ve been using people that express something—they are great artists, or beautiful women, or stylish women, or models that I really believe in. It’s kind of a family portfolio.
