Just before 2013 came to a close, news broke that NBA player Dwyane Wade reportedly welcomed his son, Xavier from a relationship with a woman named Aja Metoyer. Naturally, this came to surface a week after he proposed to his 4-year girlfriend, actress Gabrielle Union. Some reports say the child was conceived during his “break” from dating Union, while others say they weren’t technically on a “hiatus.”
Now flash-forward to 2014 and the New Year kicks off with news that rapper / actor Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges had also become the father of child outside of his relationship with girlfriend, Eudoxie Agnan.
His new baby, Cai Bella is almost a month old and her mother, Tammy Fuller is reportedly a longtime friend of the ATL rapper. (Word on the web is that Ludacris is allegedly requesting a DNA test and wants to keep his child support money at a max of a little over $1,700 just in case. But I digress.)
Reading all of these stories made me wonder if I (as a woman) would stay with my man, even though he created a “break baby” while we were supposed to be exclusive. Gabrielle Union (somewhat) addressed many of our lady thoughts and took to her Twitter page after news broke, positively saying:
The goal is NOT perfection… The goal is to be whole. That “you complete me” mess is total crap… Work on YOURSELF. Become whole, healthy & happy & watch what happens [hashtag] LoveAndLight [...] If u are unhappy/angry/resentful w/ ur life, before u pt the finger & place blame/shame on others… Look at urself. WE control our own destiny [...] Workin on ME has gotten me MUCH further than obsessing/criticizing/judging other folks. U never lose when u work on yourself
…She has a point though. But let’s look at the reality of all this. Trust has definitely been violated in the part of both Wade and Bridges. But my question to you all is: what would you do if you were in their girlfriends’ shoes?
WOULD YOU STAY WITH YOUR MAN, EVEN WITH A “BREAK BABY”?
