Best known for his dynamic primetime role as Uncle Phil on the popular 90′s television sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, actor James Avery passed away on Tuesday evening (December 31).
According to TMZ, the 68 year-old actor lost his life due to complications following open heart surgery at the Glendale hospital in California.

Interesting Fact: Avery lent his speaking voice to several animated series, including 1987’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” where he played Shredder and 1990′s “Iron Man,” where he voiced James “Rhodey” Rhodes.
