Since our post back in 2013, it appears the Broadway piece, Holler If You Hear Me is still in the works.
The Todd Kreidler-written and Kenny Leon-directed musical will not be a biographical story about Tupac. Instead it will use “the gritty poetry of the influential late rapper’s words and music to create a story of inner-city struggle, encompassing themes of friendship, family, revenge, change and hope.”
Naturally, Shakur’s mother Afeni, alongside a few others, will serve as the producer. As far as casting, it has not been announced. However, performances are said to begin on May 26, with an official opening date of June 19 at the Palace Theatre in New York City. For more information, visit HollerIfYouHearMe.com.
