Cassie feat. Ryan Leslie - Long Way to Go (radio rip) - download
This is the song that Cassie performed at her first US show, before “Me & You.” The beat is sick and the song itself sort of reminds me of “Promiscuous” by Nelly Furtado & Timbaland, mainly because of the low-key call and response between Cassie and Ryan and because of the song’s content. I hope this isn’t rumored to be the next single, because I’m sure Cassie’s got some other heat besides this. For some reason, though I knew this would be the next song to leak.

Nelly Furtado - Undercover (full) - download
I really am digging all the songs I’ve heard so far from Nelly Furtado’s “Loose” sessions. I’m not sure whether or not this is making the album, but I definitely like this. It’s a nice pop song. The voice sort of sounds like Gwen Stefani, but at the same time, Nelly’s managed to keep her swagger and add her on twist to the vocals, regardless of how different this is from her previous albums. Check it out!

Pharrell Williams feat. Kanye West - #1 (full) - download

This came right on time for the summer. This is the hotness. Do NOT sleep! Seriously, this is that get right for the summer jam. I love it. Flawless production, Pharrell’s voice is giving what I’ve been looking for since “Frontin’!” And Kanye adds a lot to the song. I’m really digging this. Can’t wait until it hits radio and gets a video. I’m excited. Looks like “In My Mind” will be coming out this summer after all…

MEGAN ROCHELL… THE ONE WE NEED?

Tuesday, May 16, 2006 |

megro.jpg

Well, remember how I told you Megan Rochell was shooting her video for “The One You Need” with Fab? Well, some new tracks have surfaced from her. To be exact, 3 full songs and two snippets. Although none of these compare to the Darkchild-produced, “The One You Need,” I hope she’s able to push out a solid debut. The songs aren’t bad, but they’re not great either. These are typical R&B tracks with pretty good production, an alright but not spectacular voice. Megan Rochell doesn’t suck, but in my opinion, these songs aren’t much to rant and rave about. Check them for yourself!

If you haven’t already, make sure you check out Ms. Rochell on MySpace if you haven’t heard the single, “The One You Need.”

CHRISTINA MILIAN’S ALBUM NOT SO AMAZIN’…

Monday, May 15, 2006 |

Christina Milian feat. Three Six Mafia - Who’s Gonna Ride? (full) - download
Christina Milian - Twisted (full) - download

Due out tomorrow is Christina Milian’s official sophomore set, “So Amazin’,” which is produced by Cool and rumored boyfriend Dre in it’s entirety. Although Christina Milian’s first album, “It’s About Time,” produced a great single, written by Teedra Moses and produced by Paul Poli, “Dip It Low,” it wasn’t all that great, and due to recent reviews, it seems that critics think that “Amazin’” lacks just as much juice as her debut album. After giving the second album’s advance release a listen, I was sort of proud of Christina for putting out a solid sophomore effort, but when the retail version was released, I was disappointed to see all of my favorite songs from the album were left off. I’ll post a couple of tracks, but you be the judge. Below the cut is a review from Yahoo! Music, check it out.

Omarion - Entourage (full) - download
Surprisingly, I really like this song. I’m not particularly fond of Omarion’s voice, but I think it’s a nice song. Whoever produced this did a good job, it’s definitely a nice little track. Maybe this means that there’s a new album in the works for Omarion. I wasn’t really a huge fan of his first album, even though I know a lot of people who really enjoyed it. Anyways, I had to give this song a couple of listens to get past the fact that it was Omarion, but it sounds like his sound has matured. Hopefully he can keep it up, and get rid of the baby hair…

Lloyd Banks - My House (full) - download
So I guess that 2006 is the year of Timbaland’s return. He’s been banging out hit after hit, I’m glad. Because I’m a really big fan of Timbaland. This is a pretty nice song, I’m really not sure what it’s about though. It’s sort of random, but that’s pretty much how I feel about a lot G-Unit’s songs. If the title isn’t self-explanatory (”In da Club,” etc.), I pretty much don’t get what the song is about. The beat is definitely funky though, I could see myself getting loose to this in the club! Don’t tell anybody, though.

TEAIRRA MARI COMES BACK FOR A “SECOND ROUND”

Saturday, May 13, 2006 |

tmari.jpg

“Here is some exclusive information on Teairra’s new album. The album will titled “Second Round” and it will be in stores Summer/Fall of 2006. The first single will be out in late June mid July. Teairra is currently in the studio working hard with Sean Garrett, Ne-Yo, Kanye West, Beyonce, Cool & Dre, and more! Once school is over Teairra is coming back at y’all harder than ever! Make sure to keep checking back for more updates.” [SOURCE]

Well, I guess Jay-Z decided to give Teairra Mari another shot. He’s got some good people working on her album, so hopefully with a little more promotion, and some good material, Teairra Mari will be able to shake off the negative opinions from her first album.
