SAVE ROOM, PEOPLE…

Sunday, July 9, 2006 |

Sorry for the lack of updates, guys, it’s been a slow week for music! Hopefully, next week, things will pick up and there will be loads more to post. But for now, this is supposedly a “new” John Legend track. The only reason I question it being new is because John always seems to have music floating around, either from his earlier sessions or from live stuff that he’s done and just decided to record it in the studio. And since I’m not really an expert on Legend, I’m not going to comment on how new or old this song is. I only own his studio album. But enjoy, because apparently, a lot of people haven’t heard this.

Hopefully, there will be more stuff to post in the coming week!

JUSTIN BRINGS “SEXY BACK”

Thursday, July 6, 2006 |

Looks like it’s the year of the comeback for Timbaland. Justin Timberlake’s first single, slated to impact radio next week has finally leaked. “SexyBack” is a digital sex-laced track. When I heard it, I automatically thought about the club. I’m kind of feeling it and it’s making me really excited for his new album, which also features more production by Timbaland, Rick Rubin, Will.I.Am (of the Black Eyed Peas) and Justin himself. Check it out.

THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW

Wednesday, July 5, 2006 |

Sammie feat. Da Backwudz - Keep It Movin’ (full) - download
Another new Sammie track has leaked, featuring Da Backwudz (”I Don’t Like the Look of It,” the hot tracked that sampled the song from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory). Sammie’s voice really sounds the same as when he was younger, but just deeper. I like the production on this song. It sounds like some old-school booty-bass stuff. Other than that, the song is pretty regular. I really do enjoy the production though. You know me. 80’s baby.

Jimmy Cozier - U Got Them Goods (full) - download
Remember Jimmy Cozier? I mean, don’t be embarrassed if you don’t. He never really garnered any success as an artist, but as a songwriter, he’s pretty well respected. He’s also well known for his guest appearance on Alicia Keys’s first album, “Songs In A Minor.” I, for one, enjoyed his first album, which came out a few years ago, however, this new song doesn’t compare to his older material. I hope his next album doesn’t disappoint.

THE “WHITE GIRL” REVIEW

Friday, June 30, 2006 |

Welcome to the first and only (?) “White Girl” Review!

Fergie - London Bridges (full) - download
Wow, I definitely wasn’t expecting this from Fergie, but something about it makes me want to just get up and dance. The shout-singing over this track really gives it an edge. I like this because it’s different than most of the stuff that’s out now. In case you’re unsure who Fergie is, she’s the girl from the Black Eye Peas. The group disband after the release of there super-successful album, “Monkey Business.” Now, with Will.I.Am working on creating his own celebrity, Fergie’s stepped out to record a solo album. The two will continue to work together.

JoJo - Too Little, Too Late (full) - download
There’s something about JoJo’s voice that I just love. Randomly, I bought her first album and loved it. The girl’s really got some pipes on her. She sounds amazing for a girl of such a young age. After working on a couple of movies released this year, JoJo has stepped back in the studio with numerous people, including Jermaine Dupri, so work on her album. This is apparently the first single. I love the song, but the only thing it suffers from is following the same pattern as her first hit single, “Leave (Get Out).”

CL EXCLUSIVE: OUTKAST ON FIRE

Friday, June 30, 2006 |

outkast.jpg

Two new hot tracks have just been leaked from OutKast’s brand new album, “Idlewild,” which will also double as the soundtrack for the long-anticipated movie release. “Morris Brown,” a song titled after the defunkted historically black university is Big Boi’s solo piece, featuring Purple Ribbon artist Scar and Sleep Brown and it seriously KNOCKS, while the funky “Idlewild Blue” is Andre 3000’s solo post. Rumoredly, the current single “The Mighty O” is the only song the duo has together on the album. Either way, I’m eager to here the greatness that these two have churned out.

The video for “Morris Brown” was recently shot in Los Angeles and should be out for release soon. I’ve heard some absolutely great things about the video, so be on the look-out. Also, check for the new VIBE, with OutKast on the cover.

Remember, you heard them first here!
