The star-studded event honored Disco queen Donna Summer, producer Quincy Jones, blues guitarist Albert King, singer-songwriter Randy Newman, rock bands Rush and Heart, veteran producer Lou Adler and hip hop pioneers Public Enemy.
Singer-actor Tyrese Gibson (pictured smiling above at CinemaCon 2013 earlier this week), must have been feeling the heat because he is now back tracking on his “fat & nasty” comments about overweight people.
Just last week his blunt comments went viral and he received a lot of negative press and backlash from his social media followers.
In an attempt to mend some fences and elaborate on what he said, the 34 year-old took to his twitter page to explain himself. Check it out below:
I’m not apologizing for what I said, I’m apologizing for the bad choice of wording and execution of my point around obesity. Y’all seen my documentary, I was brought in this world from a plus size mother and my sisters are plus size as well… I am concerned always!
On April 16, 2013, during BET’s annual Upfront presentation, the network unveiled its new television content including both scripted programs and original movies. BET announced the new night series Don’t Sleep!, newly written series Second Generation Wayans, House Husbands, and the reality series of The Mathis Project.
In addition, BET is also slated to launch a new film enterprise, BET Premiere Cinema, which will give viewers a novel look at never-before-seen films on TV. BET revealed new and returning programming, as well, at their annual Upfront in New York City. 106 & Park, Real Husbands of Hollywood and The BET Awards are among returning shows. Being Mary Jane (BET’s first hour-long drama), Burns BBQ and Comic View are some of the new shows.
Among the bevy of star-studded celebrities were rapper Nelly, crooner Miguel, legends like Chaka Khan and Gladys Knight, actors Sheryl Lee Ralph and Boris Kodjoe to name a few. Check ‘em out in action up top.
