The star-studded event honored Disco queen Donna Summer, producer Quincy Jones, blues guitarist Albert King, singer-songwriter Randy Newman, rock bands Rush and Heart, veteran producer Lou Adler and hip hop pioneers Public Enemy.
Singer-actor Tyrese Gibson (pictured smiling above at CinemaCon 2013 earlier this week), must have been feeling the heat because he is now back tracking on his “fat & nasty” comments about overweight people.
Just last week his blunt comments went viral and he received a lot of negative press and backlash from his social media followers.
In an attempt to mend some fences and elaborate on what he said, the 34 year-old took to his twitter page to explain himself. Check it out below:
I’m not apologizing for what I said, I’m apologizing for the bad choice of wording and execution of my point around obesity. Y’all seen my documentary, I was brought in this world from a plus size mother and my sisters are plus size as well… I am concerned always!
On April 16, 2013, during BET’s annual Upfront presentation, the network unveiled its new television content including both scripted programs and original movies. BET announced the new night series Don’t Sleep!, newly written series Second Generation Wayans, House Husbands, and the reality series of The Mathis Project.
In addition, BET is also slated to launch a new film enterprise, BET Premiere Cinema, which will give viewers a novel look at never-before-seen films on TV. BET revealed new and returning programming, as well, at their annual Upfront in New York City. 106 & Park, Real Husbands of Hollywood and The BET Awards are among returning shows. Being Mary Jane (BET’s first hour-long drama), Burns BBQ and Comic View are some of the new shows.
Among the bevy of star-studded celebrities were rapper Nelly, crooner Miguel, legends like Chaka Khan and Gladys Knight, actors Sheryl Lee Ralph and Boris Kodjoe to name a few. Check ‘em out in action up top.
After hosting the 50th Anniversary Show for WVON Radio in Chicago, Tracee Ellis Ross caught a flight to the Big Apple and met up with a friend for some good eats at Bar Pitti (April 12). During their lunch, the Girlfriends star was played with her new camera and practiced her eye on paparazzi.

Comedian and actor Katt Williams has been in the entertainment game for awhile now, but most recently his name has been plastered across press outlets for his reportedly bizarre behavior and various run-ins with the law.
Concrete Loop’s Angel Laws had a chance to chat with the 39 year-old about his new role in ‘Scary Movie 5,’ as well as all the negative press he has been receiving as of late. Katt also opens up about what motivates him, the music he loves and what’s next for his career. Take a listen to the interview above or read it below.
CL: You haven’t been in a mainstream movie in a few years. So, how was it working on the set of “Scary Movie 5”?
Katt Williams: It was kind of surreal. Generally, in a comedy, you feel like you’re carrying the movie or least that’s how I would feel. This was one of those situations where it was the direct opposite; It’s already an amazingly successful franchise. And I had already seen the other ones, so I knew what they were about. So, once I saw the list of people, it was just about me being able to bring my “A” game.
CL: How do you feel about the state of the comedy world, especially the black comedy world?
Katt Williams: I feel just like you feel. [*LAUGHS*]
Just weeks after releasing a brand new commercial with rapper Rick Ross, Reebok has dropped him for his disparaging lyrics that seemingly condoned date rape.
The international sneaker brand also released a statement:
Reebok holds our partners to a high standard, and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand. Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so. While we do not believe that Rick Ross condones sexual assault, we are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse.
Welp, I know the ‘Fat Man’ is mad about this one. This goes to show that we the consumer have the actual control. Celebrities should never get too comfortable.
Bad Boy’s Cassie Ventura held a listening party for her upcoming mixtape, #RockAByeBaby at NYC’s LeSouk. The singer treated fans and media with free drinks and played a couple cuts from her 13-track compilation.
While playing collaboration-heavy records like “Paradise” feat. Wiz Khalifa and “Bad B*tches” feat. Ester Dean, her good friends Adrienne Bailon and Miss Mykie showed up to show the 26 year-old beauty some love and support.

A congrats is in order to Halle Berry. The actress and her fiance actor Olivier Martinez are expecting.
Halle’s rep confirmed the news to various media outlets late Friday (April 5), but gave no details. However, TMZ reports that it’s a boy.
This will be the second child for the 46-year old beauty and first child for 47 year-old Martinez. Halle is currently the mother of five year-old Nahla Aubrey, who she had with he ex Gabriel Aubry.
Beyonce Knowles-Carter is next up on the cover of Britain’s Vogue magazine. Inside the May 2013 issue, the entertainer speaks on being seen as a feminist, her role as Mrs. Carter and whether she sees her daughter, Blue Ivy following in her parents’ path of success:
On being called a feminist:
That word can be very extreme, but I guess I am a modern-day feminist. I do believe in equality. Why do you have to choose what type of woman you are? Why do you have to label yourself anything?I’m just a woman and I love being a woman… I do believe in equality and that we have a way to go and it’s something that’s pushed aside and something that we have been conditioned to accept. But I’m happily married. I love my husband.
On her role as wife, and mother:
I feel like Mrs. Carter is who I am, but more bold and more fearless than I’ve ever been. It comes from knowing my purpose and really meeting myself once I saw my child. I was like, ‘OK, this is what you were born to do.’ The purpose of my body became completely different.
