Actress Keke Palmer (best known for her role in Akeelah & The Bee) visited The Scholastic Store on Monday afternoon in New York City and read some stories from, ‘Her Stories: African American Folktales, Fairy Tales, and True tales‘ to her young fans.
The 15 year-old currently stars in her own scripted show on Nickelodeon entitled, True Jackson: V.P. and currently has one upcoming motion picture release this year. Go Keke!

National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD), recognized each year on February 7th, is a national mobilization effort designed to encourage black people to get educated, get tested, get treated and get involved with HIV/AIDS, as it continues to devastate black communities.
Sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day planners and organizers nationwide are committed to increasing awareness of this deadly disease. Celebrity spokespersons involved in this year’s campaign include: Kimberly Elise, Hill Harper, Taraji P. Henson, Lance Gross, U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Ludacris, General Colin Powell, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tavis Smiley, among others.

Usher attended a day of service at Simon Elementary School on Monday, January 19, in Washington D.C.
Working with MTV and ServiceNation, in collaboration with CityYear, Heart of America and D.C. Cares, Usher led a group of 200 young volunteers in a makeover project at Washington, DC, participating in this year’s historic Inaugural activities.
