MUSIC NEWS: BET ANNOUNCES 2011 BET AWARDS HOST + NOMINEES & IT LOOKS LIKE THEY ADDED ANYBODY

Early Tuesday evening, BET’s 106th & Park hosted a 2011 BET Awards Nomination Special where they announced the nominees for this year’s award ceremony. Leading the pack is Chris Brown, who has received 6 nominations: Best Male R&B Artist, Best Collaboration (for which he holds two nominations) Video of the Year, Best Actor and Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice. Lil Wayne comes in second with 5 nods. Kanye West, Rihanna and Drake all come in with 4 nominations each. Actor/funny man Kevin Hart has been chosen to be the host for the popular, televised award show:

“When we asked folks who should host this year’s BET AWARDS online, in the streets, among other celebs and throughout social media, one name came back to us loud and clear: Kevin Hart,” said Stephen Hill, BET’s president of music programming and specials. “He is blue flame right now and we are looking forward to working with him on the show. His energy, wit and the always fantastic performances will make for yet another must see event—and the ‘Chocolate Droppa’ might even get a verse in the show.”

As far as performances go, Alicia Keys has been confirmed to hit the stage.

BLURB: FORMER TRANGENDER PROSTITUTE AIRS OUT LL COOL J, EDDIE MURPHY & MORE IN NEW BOOK

We might as well name 2011 The Year of The Transgender Outings. Toni Newman, a former transgendered NYC prostitute, has written a dirty-detailed, tell-all book entitled I Rise: The Transformation of Toni Newman. In the book, Newman talks about her days of working the Big Apple streets where she encountered rapper/actor LL Cool J, Eddie Murphy and of course, Hot 97′s DJ Mister Cee:

“LL Cool J was a one time encounter and very enjoyable.”

“Mister Cee picked me up and many others for the sole purpose of receiving oral sex. Mister Cee was obsessive about receiving good head and he was very verbal and very generous if you performed up to his expectations.”

“I never had an encounter with Eddie Murphy, but he was visiting 14th street late at night. I know at least five transgenders who did have sex with Eddie Murphy. He was interested in the girl with the biggest male genitalia. “

TV BLURBS: MARIAH CAREY TO JOIN ‘X-FACTOR’ JUDGE PANEL / LAURIEANN GIBSON TO BRING DANCE SHOW TO BET / BRAXTON FAMILY VALUES PREVIEW

Well not exactly. Executive producer Simon Cowell has confirmed that Mariah Carey will officially be a part of the singing competition’s judging panel. The former American Idol judge shared that the mother-to-be will be participating in the live X-Factor shows some way or another:

“I think Mariah will have a role on the TV live shows,” Cowell confirmed to host Jackie Brown. “I met her recently and she was on great form. And her idea was to be the judge of the judges, which only Mariah could come up with. She’ll be involved in some form. I literally adore her. I love her to bits.” [Source]

LaurieAnn Gibson Working on 2nd Reality TV Dance Show

Dancer/choreographer Laurieann Gibson is taking her boomkack dancing shoes and second TV show to another network. Although she just premiered her current reality TV show, Dance Scene the creative director is working on a new show – Born To Dance, a reality dance competition show that is set to debut on BET on August 2, 2011. The show follows the experience of 10 passionate and aspiring dancers as they work towards being a part of Gibson’s dance team. In an interview with Billboard.com, the Toronto-native had a bit to say about the meaning of her upcoming show:

“It’s a survival story of youth and how much they need real art,” Gibson says. “There’s real hope and inspiration there. We’re very conscious about not saying, ‘You’re fired.’ There’s so much rejection in the dance world. My show isn’t about winning a trophy and then being let go. We’re trying to find the one girl who can be a part of my team.”

Gibson has choreographed Lady Gaga’s upcoming music video for her single, “Judas”, which is set to drop any day now…

BLURB: ANGELA SIMMONS ON HOW SHE LOST 15 POUNDS

When Life & Style Magazine caught up with Angela Simmons at the Pamella Roland fashion show in NYC last week, the star of MTV’s Run’s House dished about her recent weight loss. Angela, 21, has been hitting the gym with sister Vanessa, 25.

“We’re definitely working out,” Angela tells Life & Style. “I haven’t missed more than three days in a row. When we’re home, I try to exercise every day. I do lots of squats and lunges. I didn’t notice I was losing weight until my trainer told me I’d lost 15 pounds.”

“Now I’m sculpting,” she says. “Soon I’ll have muscles!”

Angela is now dividing her time between finishing her debut R&B album and working on Pastry, the clothing and accessories brand she designs with big sis Vanessa.
