On Tuesday, singer/actor Chris Brown was sentenced to five years of probation and 180 days of community labor to be served at the Commonwealth Catholic Charities in Richmond, Virginia.
Brown was charged with two felonies for assault in February on then girlfriend, pop star Rihanna.
He reached a plea deal with prosecutors in June that limited his sentence to probation and no jail time. The 20-year-old is required to take a yearlong domestic violence prevention class and was ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Rihanna for the next five years unless they are both at an entertainment-related event, in which case he must stay 10 yards away.
Brown must pay $2,500 in restitution and another $2,500 in probation expenses. He must also pay a $30 criminal conviction fee and $400 that goes into a domestic violence fund. He faced a maximum of five years in prison had he been convicted.

Trying hard to remain calm in the face of pending legal repercussions stemming from his physical altercation with ex-girlfriend Rihanna, a casually dressed Chris Brown visits the office of his lawyer Mark Geragos in Los Angeles Wednesday before his scheduled court date. Hours later, the judge postponed Brown’s sentencing until August 27th, citing a lack of information from Virginia (Brown’s home state) about his future mandatory community service.

More than 5 months after the infamous Pre-Grammy incident, Chris Brown finally releases a public video apologizing for assaulting pop star Rihanna earlier this year in California.
In the video, the star apologizes for his behavior that February night and states that he “spent a lot time soul searching, and trying to understand what happened and why”. Peep the full video above.

When Brown left the courtroom … Rihanna walked in the courtroom. The judge explained the deal to her. The judge was telling Rihanna about the protective order.

Singer CChris Brown looks down as he appears in the Criminal Courts Building where he reached a plea bargain. The entertainer plead guilty to one count of felony assault on his former girlfriend, pop singer Rihanna in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County on Monday, June 22nd in Los Angeles.
Chris Brown has reportedly copped a plea in his assault case. Which means he will serve NO JAIL TIME, but will be on 5 years probation. He’s also been ordered to stay 50 yards clear of Rihanna. They are permitted to attend work related events at the same time, but have to stay 10 feet from each other during those events.
Chris was also ordered to spend 180 days doing community labor (8 hours a day — 1440 hours total) in Virginia which is where he lives. A Virginia law enforcement officer told the media that Brown will be picking up trash, pulling weeds and washing fire trucks.
He must also enroll in a domestic violence counseling program and he’ll get supervised probation. If Brown violates probation, he could get up to 4 years in prison.

Singer Rihanna (who was just pictured with Drake on Wednesday night in NYC) attended Game 4 of the ‘09 NBA Finals between the Lakers and the Magic on Thursday night at Amway Arena in Orlando, Florida.
Even though her estranged boyfriend singer Chris Brown (pictured below) was also in attendance, they were NOT PICTURED together. And according to various people who were twittering from the game, they were sitting on opposite sides of the court - Chris court side & Riri in the stands.
In related news, both entertainers are expected to show up in court on June 22 for Brown’s pending felony assault charges.

Rihanna sits and watches Game 2 between the LA Lakers and Orlando Magic on Sunday in Los Angeles, California. The singer was spotted in the stands during the game chatting w/ friends and then made her way to court side seats.
Rihanna is still working on her new LP, and folks from Drake and producer Pharrell Williams have been confirmed to be contributing to it. Not to mention, she is expected to take the stand in the Chris Brown felony assault case later on this month.
