10. ALICIA & SWIZZ
Singer/songwriter Alicia Keys and her producer husband Swizz Beatz have been the topic of many convos for the past couple of years. The duo welcomed their first child together back in October of 2010. Alicia has a new album due out in 2012 and Swizz is in the lab making beats rocking his Reebok attire.
We’ve seen the best dressed females of the year, so now it’s time for the fellas. Fashion is typically thought of as more so for the ladies, but in 2011 there were several male celebs who proved that style does have purpose, ushering in a new era of interest in men’s fashion. In no particular order:
IDRIS ELBA
Call him Mr. Suave and Debonair. British born actor Idris Elba has a sophisticated style that’s as classic as it is timeless. Suits tailored to perfection and worn with confidence are his style signatures.
Don’t let the all the smoothness fool you though. Idris, who sometimes moonlights as a DJ, isn’t above going for a a casual look of denim on denim. Even then though, there’s an innate level of sophistication he brings to any outfit that’s matched by no one else.
Another year has quickly come and gone, and with it a slew of fashionably minded celebrity fashionistas have shared some of their best looks with us over the course of the last twelve months. There were several style standouts during 2011, but none were as consistent as the following five women who top our ‘Best Dressed Ladies of 2011′ list. In no particular order, of course.
MOST IMPROVED LIST:
SOLANGE KNOWLES
While her big sis is redefining maternity style, Solange Knowles continues to effortlessly push the boundaries of fashion as only she can. Whether you love her style or you hate it, you can’t deny that Solange never met a fashion risk that she wasn’t willing to take. What defines her style is that she obviously wears what she likes, in the process setting trends, instead of following them.
A few Solange Knowles style staples include bold hues, bolder prints, and always, always a bold shoe to tie it all together.
2011 really was a good year for music, however, it was some songs that just stuck around a little longer than others. When you turned on the radio, you knew this song would be playing, and if you cut on MTV Jams, or BET’s 106 & Park, you knew that you were gonna see this video playing. Whether you loved it, or hated it, it made a big splash in 2011. So here they go, in no particular order.
CHRIS BROWN – LOOK AT ME NOW
♫ Chris Brown feat. Lil’ Wayne & Busta Rhymes – Look At Me Now
Some argue that this is the track that gave Chris Brown the push he needed to get his career back on track. Labeled as the second single from his fourth studio album, F.A.M.E., the track was co-produced by Diplo, Afrojack and Free School, and written by Brown himself, as well as Busta Rhymes and Lil’ Wayne. It reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it Brown’s highest chart position since “Forever,” back in 2008. As of December 14th, 2011, “Look at Me Now” has sold 3,051,000 digital copies in the United States.
Although never really released as on official single at first, a fan favorite from Jay-Z & Kanye West’s joint album, Watch the Throne, the HitBoy-produced track “Niggas In Paris” (renamed simple, “In Paris” for radio) debuted at #75 on the Billboard chart and then was finally sent to Rhythmic and Urban radio on September 13th. The song has since peaked at number 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Kanye West’s 14th top-10 single and Jay-Z’s 18th making Jay-Z the rapper with the most top-10 hits.
