I was in Charlotte over the weekend for Procter and Gamble’s final stop for the ‘My Black is Beautiful’ tour. The tour stop attracted hundreds of women, treating them to a full day of complimentary beauty services and free performances. The event also included a small discussion (panel above) on beauty, self-esteem, finance and media topics within the black community.
My girl Tasha Smith hosted & moderated the event and there were performances by: Kindred The Family Soul, Chrisette Michelle and the talented Raheem Devaughn.
In related news, Tasha co-stars in ‘The Long Shots’ with Ice Cube and Kiki Palmer. The movie will be in theaters August 22nd, make sure you go and support.

Despite the threatening clouds looming in the sky, a mass of benevolent party-goers gathered for Kid ‘N’ Play: A Block Party Blowout, sponsored by No1sDoneItRight, an event planning service that serves the community with its earnings.
The event was a fundraiser for New York’s New Design High School on the Lower East Side, which faces severe budget cuts for the upcoming school year. The block party took us back to our days of innocence as kids with face-painting, double dutch, ICEEs and, of course, great music.
Turntablists Kev Sakoda and DJ Treats blessed us with oldies but goodies. Those tearing up the stage included J. Cole, a new comer with a sick flow, and preppy swag; Loj, of N.E.G; and Jade, who brought the show to a close with her brand of dance/acoustic pop.
Check out more pics of a Saturday well spent below the cut. Kudos N1DIR!

Our friends over at Real Talk NY hit up Jermaine Dupri’s party at Club Dreamz on Friday night in Atlanta. Many celebrities were in the house celebrating J.D’s popular Summer Fest weekend. Word is a shoot out went down inside and the celebs starting ducking.
Peep what REAL TALK NY SAID:
Things were crazy, J.D., Usher, Diddy, Nelly, Gabrielle Union, Nia Long, etc. were all in the same section when the shooting occurred… I didn’t actually hear a shot go off but seen people just started ducking. First it started on the right side of V.I.P. then it moved over to the left. Then all the celebs ducked and dipped with the quickness but some couldn’t get off the stage.
I wasn’t sure what the hell happened, the DJ made an announcement it wasn’t a gun shot, and said the speaker or a bottle poppin had made the the noise.
Then out of no where everyone is ducking and scrambling, bodyguards are knocking over people to protect celebs. [READ MORE]
Word is the club was shut down for almost two hours, but no one was arrested for the shooting. Peep more photos when you keep reading..
