Meet Mel Carter, the 21-year-old aspiring rapper and nephew of hip hop mogul, Jay-Z. Much like his uncle, Mel (real name, Ramel Carter) grew up in a tiny apartment in the notorious Marcy Projects in Brooklyn, before settling down in New Jersey.
His new single, “The Message” comes from his upcoming free downloadable album, Certified, which will be available September 29th.

The track was produced by The Olympics and there’s no word where it came from, but it’s sure that it’s in response to the stunt she pulled at this year’s VMA’s. Mama, who is a judge on MTV’s hit show ABDC, however, is working on her new album, Voice of the Young People: I Am That. Sure, Mama. We see you.

“Yesterday” is the first official single from the album and is produced by DJ Frank-E. The album was also supposed to contain productions from Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins and as well as The Underdogs. No solid release date has been revealed.
