D’Angelo made his return to the magazine world and was featured in the most recent issue of GQ magazine. After the soul singer made his musical return to the stage earlier this year, the musician showed a little skin and got suited up for a spread in the June 2012 issue.
Inside, the singer talks about a number of things from his return to music, why he purposely gained weight, how he felt when a female fan threw money at him on stage and his thoughts on Lucifer and his role in the singer’s struggle with good and bad – dark and light. ON HIS DRUG ADDICTION AND REHAB:
“I went in under a fake name so people wouldn’t know who I was, right? So, you know, Michael never got treatment. It was this other character that was in there. And the moment I left, I went straight to the fucking liquor store. [...] I didn’t really think I had a problem like that. I felt like, you know, all I got to do is clean up and I’ll be fine. In the May 28th issue, the actress addressed the rumors of her and Stacey Dash getting into arguments on set as well as which celebrity she had to let go as a friend:
ON THE DRAMA THAT WENT DOWN ON SET w/ STACEY DASH:
“Yes, there was a disagreement over a scene. And it really wasn’t with me. It was with the director. I think it was about 2 or 3AM and we’d been shooting all damn day. Stacey tried to argue with the director about a line. And I’m like: “Girl, if you don’t say what the director wants you to say.” It wasn’t that serious at first, but it went there.”
“It’s a bunch of women on the set. We might all be on our damn period at any given point. I just wanted us to move forward. Then the argument took on a life of its own. The show decided to use it for publicity. They just ran with it.” Continue
