Three-time Grammy-winning singer-turned actress Jill Scott covers the newest issue of JET Magazine. Scott is starring in HBO’s newest series, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, airing Sundays at 8pm EST.
Jill sat down with JET and spoke about her new baby and more:
Scott is counting down the days before she gets to lay eyes on what she calls her most precious gift yet. The soon-to-be-mom, whose due date is April 25, looks forward to her little one, since past doctors told her that she was unable to conceive. He’s my little warrior, Scott told Jet magazine. So far, he’s been to Africa with me, he’s worked in extreme heat and during 14-15 hour days. He’s hung in there with me through this whole thing and I just cannot get over it. This is incredible.
If things had gone as intended, Scott would have married Lil John Roberts, 37, her band’s drummer, last month. The pregnancy, however, has since altered their plans. We are just people, of course, so we have to deal with one thing at a time. We may get married. We may not. Who knows? We don’t. We’re just taking it as slow as we can.
Lil Wayne covers the April 2009 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, on stands this week. The rapper speaks on venturing into the Rock genre for his newest album. Here is a snippet:
“The rock shit just comes from what my life is now,” Wayne, 26, says. “I’ve grown into this person.” He released his first album, 1999’s Tha Block Is Hot, when he was only 17, and built his name on being the busiest rapper in the game, dropping a relentless stream of mixtapes and cameos. But aside from plucking at electric guitars onstage and in videos, Weezy never let on that his rap career could take such a significant detour. Describing a wild night when he woke up in bed with three or four women he couldn’t name, Wayne reveals he had an epiphany. “I just got — I’m not going to say ’so good’ at what I was doing, but it became such a regularity for me that I got tired of it. Kim reveals, “We were super excited for this shoot but also a bit nervous. We had never done a shoot together and didn’t know what to expect! It turned out super hot and we love it. The article also gives a glimpse into our relationship. It also covers how we met, the things we argue about, and how we just work so well together!”
