Sure her first Vogue cover was controversial to say the least (VIEW POST HERE), but supermodel in the making Joan Smalls has nabbed her second Vogue cover of the year. And regardless of its political correctness, landing one Vogue cover let alone two, is kind of a big deal and instantly ups a model’s fashion industry cred. There’s a reason Joan earned the #2 spot on Models.com’s list of top 50 models.
While her last cover was for Vogue Italia, this time around Joan covers the May 2012 issue of Vogue Australia. Lensed by photographer Kai Z Feng and styled by fashion editor Naomi Smith, Joan sports a sophisticated look of sleek hair, a deep plum lip, and a Burberry Prorsum silk dress paired with dramatic leather gloves. The shot may not be as gimmicky as her Vogue Italia pic, but it’s definitely a better representation of the Puerto Rican native’s undeniable beauty.

Alicia Keys rocks a black lip on VIBE magazine’s Global Issue. In the May 2012 edition, the singer-songwriter talks about working on her 6th studio album, how she finally feels comfortable in her skin and reminisced with her husband, Swizz Beatz about the moment they knew they were meant to be together:
