MAG COVER: COMMON BREAKS DOWN LOVE W/ ‘JET’ + NEW SONG, “BELIEVER” (FT. JOHN LEGEND)

Hell on Wheels actor Common is next up on next week’s issue of JET magazine. The hip-hop veteran dropped a bit of knowledge on the meaning of love, getting his heart broken and how the two have motivated his life and career now.

—————
On the meaning of love:
“I think the core of the human being and the heart is love, and we all want that,” he said. “Love has allowed me to do the things I’m doing in life. I feel like we all deserve that — to receive love and give it, too. I think when you give that love — love of God, love of other people, self-love — you’re able to make the world better. Your days go better.”

On his experience loving women:
“I have been in love, and I did get my heart broken,” he said, noting that he’s man enough to openly share sans inhibition. “As an adult, I can say I’ve been through love, and this is some of the experiences I’ve had. Men love. Men go crazy over women. They go to prison, start wars and lose hair over them. Don’t act like you can’t acknowledge it. It may be that you haven’t been through it, so I’m not afraid to say it. Continue

MAG FEATURE: GABOUREY SIDIBE TALKS UPCOMING FILMS IN ‘THE HF’

In the latest issue of The HF Magazine, actress Gabourey Sidibe poses for a few personality-filled photos. The 28-year-old Tower Heist actress dished on how music and children are her inspiration, her upcoming films and movie roles and jokingly shared what her profession would be if she weren’t an actress.

HF: If you could be anything but an actor, what would you choose to be?
GS: Professional video game tester. That’s of course in the case that Professional-chocolate-taster is unavailable.

HF: Aside from acting, what is your preferred method of artistic expression, if anything?
GS: I love to sing! I love music. I sing all the time without even realizing it. I also love to write. When most teenagers in my high school were getting high (and pregnant), my best friend Crystal and I would write stories for each other. It’s always been a great interest of mine. Whenever I have a bad day, it helps me feel better to write out the way the day should have gone. Continue

MAG FEATURE: LAURIEANN GIBSON TALKS HAIR, STYLE & DANCE IN ‘BE’

Choreographer to the stars Laurieann Gibson is featured in a spread for BE magazine. In the beauty publication’s latest issue, the “Boom Kack” dancer reminisced on the Making the Band days, shared how her hair & style influence the beat of her step and who she thinks is a dancer with the best natural style:

On the impact of the Making the Band days on her career:
When Puff called me at the time I was trying to put together a dance DVD to get to the next level. He said, “If you want me to do that, you have to do this.” The only component was that it had to be a girl group. Even when I shot it, I didn’t even realize I was on TV. I was just making a Number 1 band. I was shocked. It was only later that I understood my gift. Then Danity Cane became Number 1. It was unfortunate when they imploded and the reality of “the biz” got to them.

On the influence of her style on her dancing:
They are synonymous. For me every morning when I wake up, my outfit will dictate my day… It completely dictates the outcome of your physical movement. The outside is the inside. It becomes the beat of your step. For me, when working with new artists, the way I come in, my swagger, dictates all of the opinion… my outfits reflect the emotion. I’m not someone who puts on an outfit and I’m nothing like it. Continue
