Did anyone catch it on Monday? It was actually really good. Watching the show reminded me how much I love being a strong black woman! Seeing Maya Angelou, Coretta Scott King (rest in peace), Della Reese and all those other amazing black woman, inspired me to keep on striving to reach my highest potential. And don’t even get me started on that poem “We Speak Your Names” by Pearl Cleage. She was not playing around when she wrote that, it was beautiful. I’m not going to lie, I teared up a bit.

Out of all the events, the best event (by far!!) was the Sunday brunch. I would have loved to have witnessed that. Gladys Knight & Patti LaBelle killed it!! I’m just happy that mic skipped over Ashanti, forget 50 Cent, that would have been the real massacre!

Sidenotes:
- Who saw what Janet Jackson had on at the 1st event? I thought it was totally inappropriate for her to wear that. I know she is a grown ass woman, but damn. Nobody wants to see your biddies, especially not Maya Angelou!

- Where was Beyonce? I was surprised she wasn’t there.

- Who caught our favorite H.A.M. Naima Mora at the Sunday brunch?

- Cicely Tyson looks good for her age. Ain’t she pushing 80?

John Clark, a 23 year old man who claimed he was Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds’ son, was arrested in a police sting. Word is he was going to collect over 9 million dollars in hush money from the grammy winner.

John Travis Clark left a well-known Downtown Indianapolis eatery last week thinking he was $9 million richer. Police, however, are calling his short-lived windfall extortion.

Wearing a hidden microphone, Edmonds’ Los Angeles attorney, William J. Briggs II, met with Clark on Friday at the restaurant and presented a check. Clark said the payment was meant to buy his silence and end an 18-month discussion about his status as Edmonds’ illegitimate son.
“I just asked them to give my mom the respect she deserved,” Clark said in a jailhouse interview with WTHR (Channel 13), The Indianapolis Star’s news-gathering partner. “I requested friendship, acknowledgment.”
When Edmonds’ attorney offered money instead, “I didn’t turn it down,” Clark said.

The Marion County prosecutor’s office has no evidence regarding Clark’s parentage. Prosecutor Carl Brizzi said Monday that Edmonds, 48, adamantly denies the allegation, adding that Clark’s actions violate the law, regardless of whether he is Edmonds’ son.
